1990

Insight and Baxter Healthcare began their relationship 1990 when they developed the first in-home peritoneal dialysis machine. The goal of this project was to provide a higher quality of life for patients by being able to complete their dialysis in their home. Insight also collaborated with Dean Kamen and his consulting firm, Deka R&D, who provided the technology for the Baxter program. Kamen is a celebrated American inventor famous for developing the Segway personal transporter. The result of this three-way collaboration was the Baxter’s Home Choice Personal Cycler. The core technology and user friendly interface and form factor are still part of this product today.

As the program manager for the first Baxter project, Senior Partner and Co-founder Doug Brewer said, “"We had such a great experience working on our first project with Baxter, and we are proud that such an innovative company is our longest standing client."

Insight will celebrate 20 years of successful design and innovation on July 18, 2008. To commemorate this achievement, we will post a short story about our company's evolution each month until our anniversary.
