Insight was experiencing success and maintaining good growth as an industrial design firm, but knew that to reach the next level, engineering would have to be brought in-house to provide full development capabilities. Co-founders Craig Scherer and Doug Brewer knew that this was essential for the future of Insight.

In 1992, Insight made the move from industrial design to full product development by bringing mechanical engineering into the core capabilities mix.

"Today we have over 30 engineers with advanced mechanical innovation, analysis and R&D experience. Our engineers are equipped to tackle advanced R&D programs including complex medical devices" says Mark Slaven, partner and director of engineering. "When we added engineering as a discipline, we were extremely mindful to make sure our engineering and design worked in tandem to ensure the final product was exactly what the client envisioned".

Insight will celebrate 20 years of successful design and innovation on July 18, 2008. To commemorate this achievement, we will post a short story about our company's evolution each month until our anniversary.
