Insight was one of the first design firms to bring formal user research into its repertoire of capabilities. A team of researchers with advanced degrees in psychology, sociology, anthropology, ethnography, and human factors was created to support the design process and ensure that all our products are appropriate for the people who will use them and the environments in which they will be used.

“At the time, not many design firms had strong research methods or skills, especially not as an offering truly integrated into an iterative, user-centered product design and development process,” said Matthew Jordan, director of research. “We knew that understanding and designing for the user’s experience had to be a focus in all our work.”

Insight’s research group includes design strategists, user researchers, interaction designers, human factors specialists and a team in Shanghai dedicated to researching consumers in Asia.

Insight will celebrate 20 years of successful design and innovation on July 18, 2008. To commemorate this achievement, we will post a short story about our company's evolution each month until our anniversary.
