Research Manager - Boston
Insight Product Development, an established, creative, energetic product development firm, is looking for a talented and innovative research manager for our Greater Boston, MA office. Candidates must have at least 8 years of experience in a product development environment and experience at managing clients, research teams, projects, aggressive schedules and budgets. A bachelor's degree is required. A master’s or PhD degree is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Lead our user research efforts out of our Boston office
- Work closely with the research team members in the Chicago and Raleigh offices
- Create innovative ways of collecting user data and discovering new product opportunities
- Work with clients and team members to inspire, and communicate processes, needs, and expectations
- Contribute to the product definition and evaluation process utilizing multiple sources of information (field work, interviews, web, market literature, etc.)
- Interpret user insights and integrate the results as new product recommendations
- Define and contribute to the development of product interfaces and interactions
- Work with users and designers to evaluate concepts and existing products on the market for improvement opportunities
Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional experience in user research and/or product development
- Experience with generative and evaluative methods
- Medical product development experience is beneficial
- A background in ethnography or cognitive science is helpful
- Excellent writing and presentation abilities
- Strong, collaborative, interpersonal work style
- Extensive study and experience in methodologies for uncovering user needs and product opportunities
- Knowledge of drawing or layout programs such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
- Familiarity in database programs and other data manipulation programs, and capacity to shape and analyze statistical studies a plus
- Experience in program and client management
- Familiarity with business development processes a plus
