Creative Design Manager
Insight Product Development is a global leader in the creation of innovative solutions for complex products, systems and workflows. We are a product development consultancy with extensive experience in leading collaborative efforts with our clients to create and evolve technologies, products, and the services and systems that support them in new and innovative ways.
We are searching for a unique individual that can perform as an experienced design practitioner as well as a creative lead and design manager for industrial design in our Raleigh, North Carolina office. This is a strategic position to establish, build and evolve our industrial design offering and team in Raleigh.
Responsibilities will include creating innovative product solutions for complex problems and building product strategy through design and creative leadership, as well as shaping our design process and leading the creative direction for the Raleigh office. This position will work closely with our industrial design leads in other offices to further develop and advance Insight’s global design presence. Independently balancing client management, directing design projects and hands-on design work will be required.
Requirements
- Excellent portfolio and highly developed design skills, including 3D modeling experience. Experience designing for consumer technology, medical, life-sciences, or consumer health industries a plus.
- Experience in leading creative direction of product development projects, firm understanding of consumer needs, branding, technology and manufacturing methods while delivering world class design. A strong understanding of the influence of brand and product strategy is important.
- Articulate and confidently present and speak to design in a business setting. Strong visual and verbal story-telling skills to emotionally connect concepts with user and market desires.
- 8+ years of industrial design experience in product development with demostrable experience in leading creative design direction for complex, technology and user driven products.
- Strong leadership qualities, collaborative work ethic, and a great sense of humor are needed.
- Ability to mentor junior designers, guide projects, inspires through example, infuse design passion, and help build a strong internal team.
