Mechanical Design Engineer - Raleigh
Our Raleigh, NC design studio is looking for passionate product development engineers that have proven experience developing product concepts and turning those ideas into manufacturable products. You should have experience working with a variety of high and low volume fabrication processes (sheet metal and stamping, thermoforming, injection molded plastic part design, casting) and hands-on involvement in introducing finished product designs into manufacturing and production assembly. This position requires exceptional mechanical part/component/system conceptualization, analysis, visualization, Pro/E CAD, and DFM/DFA skills. You must have an infatuation for high-profile industrial design, as well as excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities include
- Developing product concepts at the system/part/component level, and then being able to turn those ideas into manufacturable products using a variety of high-and-low volume manufacturing processes
- "Think outside the box" and create multiple concepts for the same requirements
- Develop innovative and feasible mechanical solutions at the component/system assembly level of design and detail these with CAD models and drawings using Pro/Engineer
- Apply theoretical knowledge of design and mechanical engineering principles using kinematics, structural and thermal/fluid analysis calculations
- Build breadboard mock ups and proof of principle models – plan, oversee and manage prototype build efforts and evaluate designs for improved cost and manufacturability
- Implement product solutions that drive lean manufacturing process and assembly for a mix of high and low volume products in variety of industries: medical, consumer, military, commercial
- Actively participate in team ideation sessions with our clients and internal development staff of industrial designers, engineers, and user researchers
