Insight's research documented this challenging workflow and identified key opportunity areas for improvement. One area of emphasis led to exploring ways to modify the process to take the human variable out of the equation entirely. This called for an automated solution that would completely seal the materials inside a sterile closed loop system. Such a device would need to provide the exact mixing duration, enable simple transfer of individual components and support error-free delivery of the mixed cement into a catheter which had been inserted into the vertebrae.
