Hill-Rom's new wound surface, a specialized therapy mattress for use on hospital bed frames, provides a solution for relieving a number of common and dangerous affects of bedridden, long-term care patients. Since the surfaces were not typically owned by the hospitals, Insight needed to acquire a firm understanding of the "leasing" arrangement to effectively guide the design process. The owners of the surfaces were actually Hill-Rom distributors and DMEs who had to deliver, retrieve, service and clean the product on a constant and rotating basis.
