Going mobile
Baxter International sought to help blood centers realize the full potential from blood donations by providing a portable apheresis instrument for use in both fixed and mobile settings. Insight worked with Baxter to develop the ALYX Component Collection System, which is an automated processing system designed to collect, separate, and process two units of red blood cells from a single donation. In addition to the challenges of creating an instrument that is compact and easy to transport and setup, the Insight team needed to design a system that helped phlebotomists perform collections efficiently while providing a safe and positive experience for donors.
