Because its design greatly enhanced the overall experience of both donors and operators, the ALYX System set new standards in the blood banking industry for automated collections. After only 18 months in the US, more than 30% of the US blood centers have leased ALYX Systems and Baxter’s market space has expanded into mobile environments and small blood centers.
The ALYX System and the integrated Insight and Baxter development team have received numerous awards for the ALYX System, most noteworthy the 2005 Medical Design Excellence Award (Gold Winner) and the MD&DI Magazine Outstanding Medical Device Development Team of 2005. The icons developed for the ALYX System have been used as the basis for the European Medical Technology Industry Association (EUCOMED) graphics standardization initiative in the blood product and processing industry.
