Understanding user goals to drive development goals

Before trying to figure out what features might comprise an improved dry erase solution, Insight commenced to discovering exactly what people are doing with dry erase in the first place. This involved immersing the core development team in the world of teachers, office workers, and household managers (i.e. "moms"). The goal was to understand the entire communication experience for these stakeholders, not only documenting dry erase usage but also understanding the use of complementary and competing tools, from "sticky notes" to PDAs.
