Traditional mammography has been a very important tool for the early detection of breast cancer. The problem is that the actual procedure is very uncomfortable and only produces a two-dimensional image. Orison created a breakthrough technology that uses a rotating ultrasound transducer to create a three-dimensional image. The big question was how to create a sensor that does not require the patient to lay face down on a table, which would not be comfortable for the patient.
